    A dictionary from the future!

Posted by Elliot Bannister on Jan 3rd 2015

This program allows me to hear any Lakota word pronounced by not one but TWO native speakers – a man and a woman. I find that hearing a word helps to remember its spelling, so this feature is a serious boon to my learning.

The presentation of the dictionary is crystal clear, and if I come across a new word in one of the example sentences, I can click on it to arrive at its own entry.

On top of all that, this is the sort of dictionary that can never go out-of-date. Any revisions or neologisms that need to be added will be applied through updates.

    Larry's Review

I have used the dictionary written by Tashna Whirlwindhorse and I'm finding that there is a lot of differences between the two in spelling and pronunciation of fairly common words. What or why are there differences? With your product, I'm starting all over. Otherwise I like the program, especially the verbal aspect.

    Gratitude

Made a decision to Walk the Red Road and I am learning the language now thanks to this dictionary. This is one of the things I need to do to honor this path and I am making great progress with the help it gives me.

    New Dictionary

Posted by Diane Garey on Dec 16th 2014

This new dictionary is a real change from the old online version, and it takes a little practice, but within an hour I realized how great it is. Do not ignore the buttons to get the audio for each word you look up, it's extraordinarily helpful to hear the word as you get the definition. The new dictionary is a real complement to the print version -- and it makes working on the forum much easier for me.
