    New Lakota Dictionary, 3rd Edition

Posted by Sheila Shigley on Aug 29th 2023

An absolutely excellent and gorgeous physical dictionary. I remain said that the web version has gone offline--it was an invaluable resource. It's so strange, in the modern world, to see a resource disappearing rather than appearing. They physical book is outstanding, and I hope that it can once again be complemented by the equally-outstanding and necessary online companion. Philáuŋyayapi for all that you do.

I remember a long time ago how tough it was to get a Lakota/English anything. This book, the 3rd edition, is light years better. I appreciate how each section had great information. I appreciate the sounds/vowels addition. The print is large enough for old eyes and easy to read. The people who put this together were very mindful and common sensed, which I truly appreciate. Thank you!

I bought this book off of a Native American Wish List for the Pine Ridge Reservation. I cannot review the book other than to say if it was on their wish list, it has to be a very good book, an excellent resource of their Native American language.
